FIBROMYALGIA
What is Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is a chronic medical condition characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, tenderness, and fatigue. It is often accompanied by sleep disturbances, mood issues, and memory problems. While the exact cause of fibromyalgia is still unknown, researchers believe it involves a combination of genetic, environmental, and psychological factors.

Types of Fibromyalgia :

1.Primary Fibromyalgia: Primary fibromyalgia is the most common type. It occurs independently, without any other medical conditions. The exact cause of primary fibromyalgia remains unknown, and it can affect anyone, regardless of age or gender.
2. Secondary Fibromyalgia: Secondary fibromyalgia occurs in individuals who have other rheumatic diseases or autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, or ankylosing spondylitis. When these conditions are present, fibromyalgia symptoms can exacerbate, complicating the overall health and well-being of the individual.
3. Localized Fibromyalgia: Localized fibromyalgia, also known as regional or segmental fibromyalgia, affects specific areas of the body, such as the neck, shoulders, or knees. Unlike widespread fibromyalgia, the pain and symptoms are limited to these localized regions.

Common Symptoms of Fibromyalgia

Widespread Pain: Aches and tenderness in muscles, ligaments, and tendons throughout the body.
Fatigue: Persistent tiredness, even after a full night's sleep.
Sleep Disturbances: Difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking up feeling unrefreshed.
Stiffness: Muscles and joints may feel stiff, especially in the morning.
Cognitive Issues: Often referred to as "fibro fog," this includes memory problems, lack of concentration, and difficulty with focus.
Headaches: Chronic headaches, including migraines, are common among individuals with fibromyalgia.
Mood Disorders: Depression, anxiety, and stress are often experienced by individuals dealing with fibromyalgia.
